TIPS for ‘online’ professional development therapy courses?

All psychotherapists, counsellors, psychiatrists, psychologists or other health professionals, normally have a mandatory requirement to conduct a minimum amount of PD (personal development) hours each year. There are many choices out there as to which type of PD you choose to expand your knowledge in. There are also different settings available such as participating in ‘online’ PD therapy courses.

Over the years I’ve engaged in a number of ‘online’ courses on various therapeutic topics nationally and internationally. However, I’ve found there seems to be very few ‘outside the box’ PD online courses available. Hence this is one of the reasons why I have put together a cluster of ‘on line’ PD courses which might be intriguing and worthwhile for some.

The layout tends to consist of a mixture of ‘topic’ related videos, relevant articles and reflective optional writing sheets. The hours vary for each course and tend to be between 6 -18 hours overall. The only requirement to obtain your PD points is to click through all the segments of the course, answer the 10 easy mini test questions, email at least one or more questions or comments to me and to fill out an evaluation form. Once this is all completed a certificate will automatically be sent to you.

Generally some may find it’s in their best interest to physically go to an actual PD event whilst others may find these ‘out of the box’ online PD courses much more stimulating and valuable.
