'MENTAL HEALTH' Trigger Segments Supervision
Developed by Lydia Sterry B.A (hons) M.A
As therapists, we all have our own issues; we’re not blank canvases.
Some issues might be deep-rooted; others might be less ingrained.
But there is one thing we can agree on, is that we all have our issues, which can be slightly/easily triggered, especially with our clients or in supervision.
We might want to ask ourselves as therapists/supervisors;
What happens when you or a supervisee are TRIGGERED in supervision?
What might you naturally do when a supervisee or you feel triggered?
How might you work through your own or a supervisee’s possibly ‘mental health’ obstacle in supervision?
We might want to remind ourselves how we work in a shared field with our clients. Where valuable information about a client’s process tends to manifest through our own inner feelings and experiences, and where sometimes our own issues/themes can become triggered.
This course has been written SPECIFICALLY for supervisors but has been OPENED UP to non-supervisors too. Especially, the ones who are CURIOUS about developing their own ‘inner supervisor’ or who are looking to enhance their own supervision with their supervisor.
Learning the skills to work with triggering experiences as they arise in supervision, could give birth to new material and insightful ongoing reflections.
Of course, not all triggers can be worked through in supervision fully and are normally encouraged to be explored in personal therapy. However, shining a dim light on a small part of a pressing trigger, creatively and skilfully, may enhance supervision work.
This ONLINE VIDEO & POWER POINT workshop is designed to address how you might work innovatively with yourself or some supervisees in trigger moments, while still HOLDING or being SUPPORTED by the supervisory frame.
This course opens up a different way of working with supervision and explores the value of incorporating small trigger segments into the process.
Overall, the course may contribute to reflecting deeply on how you might like to adapt /change/build a different way of working with your supervisees/supervisor.
Whether you’re a Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Chaplain, Pastoral Carer, Rabbi, Social Worker, Doctor, working with supervisees or trainees, you may benefit from doing this course.
