The Forgotten Part of Therapy: THE CLIENT’S SEXUAL WORLD - Part TWO
Developed by Lydia Sterry B.A (hons) M.A
Reflections on ANY client’s dilemma include how we might need to facilitate an open and attuned engagement.
However, how willing are we to 'go into' the client’s SEXUAL landscape.
However, how much are we willing to “go into” the client’s SEXUAL landscape, to try to understand the origins of any possible struggle, the meaning attached to it, where it may be most or less prominent etc…?
How much are we actually looking into the client’s sexual world perspective?
Close up, from afar or not at all maybe?
We could respond to this by saying, well, the sexual world isn’t really a topic that arises frequently with clients. You may even find it tends to be rarely spoken about.
However, if this is the case, you may want to start exploring what could possibly be going on.
This course addresses this even further than part one, and invites you to RE-EXAMINE your understanding of the sexual world to become more familiar and comfortable with the topic. It also, considers how your stance towards the sexual world may or may not be influencing your practice.
We all have edges being a therapist and one of these edges may be talking about sex and other many sexual elements particularly with clients.
To address this head on, the course includes:
How the client’s sexual world could unfold or emerge in your therapeutic practice
How you might work existentially within a client’s sexual world
Taking the embarrassment out of any possible 'sexual self-discovery' conversations discussed in therapy
Addressing creative ways to face head on any client’s sexual conversations/comments/struggles in their sexual world
Creating a space to reflect deeply on this possibly hidden area during the therapy
Using specific therapeutic “sex-itential” questioning tools to become more equipped to move towards the client’s sexual world
Exploring seeing the client’s sexual world as important, but not as an all-encompassing aspect of the therapy
Plus, many other extras…
The goal of this ONLINE VIDEO & POWER POINT program is not to qualify you as a specialized sex therapist. However, it may increase your knowledge, confidence, and openness to discuss certain common sexual themes.
The course looks at how we could capture the overall client’s lived experience and the range of different experiences they have by not only considering the personal, social, spiritual worlds, but the PHYSICAL world too. This may include how they relate to their body but also how they experience their SEXUAL WORLD, their sexual preferences, attitudes, mindset, choices, behaviours…
Overall this course looks at assisting you to ponder over many MORE aspects of the hidden sexual world in therapy and how it might be adapted to fit in with your own therapeutic approach.
Course TWO includes modules which directly address:
